Thank you Rick for sharing this superb backing track with such great musicians, perfect playing, recording and mixing. I really enjoyed it !!! And so I hope my solo will be good enough. I tried to mix together some lines from the original Jimmy Page’s solo, which will never be equaled of course, with a bit of personal improvised lines.

My take has been recorded and mixed in Avid Pro Tools using Overloud TH-U plugin as guitar modeler. Obviously i used my favorite Gibson Les Paul Custom lefty 93′ plugged into a Presonus Eureka transformer coupled preamp as a deluxe DI box with a bit soft compression. Out of the preamp, the signal is send to my Avid audio interface running Pro Tools.

For recording i’ve chosen to play on a « modern » Hi Gain lead tone. All effects settings (Gate, Tape echo, Parametric Eq, , reverb) are from the plugin as well. Amp model is an ENGL Fireball 100w head with a 4×12 cab. No other post production eq, dynamics or effects on the guitar.

For mixing and mastering I added some fast treatments on the master bus (soft compression, virtual tape machine, soft limiter) using Brainworx Audio Plugins and Slate Digital plugins, that’s it.
